The 2010 Winter Olympics is upon us, but unlike the Summer Olympics NBC has decided to be an asshole and limit live online coverage to only Hockey and Curling for viewers with cable or satellite subscriptions. The rest of us will have to make do with short highlight clips.
NBCU’s general counsel Rick Cotton says this is a step to discourage piracy. The man behind NBC’s 2200 hours of live coverage during the 2008 Summer Olympics, Perkins Miller, supports this position by saying that its all about the “Watercooler moment” and that no one wants to watch long-form events anyways. Perhaps we all have short attention spans.
The BBC will be providing live access to 7 events to UK customers. However this is only of benefit if your ISP is in the UK (or you have a UK-based proxy set up).
Hopefully free live coverage will return for the 2012 Olympics from London as i do enjoy my Greco-Roman wrestling.

I have found that people like to get onto facebook / youtube / myspace when they are at work. So the simple way to do that if it is blocked is just to unblock it with a facebook / youtube / myspace proxy. You can always find new ones if yours gets blocked.

Those are new working web proxy servers. They should go passed the filters. I checked all of them and they are fast and reliable.
